Here is a small
9ct gold engraved mourning locket, complete with a woven locket of hair encased inside
.

Wearing Mourning lockets became a custom for the wealthy in the 19th century and would often have a lock of the deceased's hair.
I can only assume that this would have been for a child or baby as it is so small.
It measures just about 1/2" across.
The front is nicely engraved with the back also nicely decorated.
Although this is not marked 9ct this tests as 9ct gold on a Tri-electronics gold testing machine.
There is a slight hole in the ring at the top of the locket but this could easily be repaired by a jeweller.
Final sale price £4:99
