EIGHT RARE BOOKS THE THREEPENNY PICTURE GALLERY 1800'S

Here are

Eight rare books called The Threepenny Picture Gallery.

As far as I can make out I think these were published in the mid 1800's.

These wer continued weekly and have various plates of the Works of Hogarth.

The issue numbers are written in the top left hand corner in hand but on some have also been printed, there are a few that have the printed number crossed out and the proper number written in hand.

No's are 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17.

They are individual and are stitched through the front cover to the back and I would imagine this was done by hand.

No 7, 10, 11, 12, 16, and 17 are still stitched, has all pages, these are as to be expected with books this age, and are somewhat grubby , corners of the pages a little dogearred and the normal foxing.

Number 8 and number 9 are no longer stitched, they have their prints in and their descriptions of the prints but I cannot confirm that the book is complete.

To help me date these books is an advert on the back of a couple for the Giant Steamer "The Great Britain Steamship now moored off Blackwall".

The ship was launched in 1843 from Blackwall.
