ELGIN POCKET WATCHES: GOLD HUNTERS 7 JEWEL

This is a great example of a lower grade Elgin pocket watch, it is a gold filled 7 jewel hunters pocket watch made in 1907.

It has a gold filled hunters case with a very ornate design to the back of the case.

This does have some minor dents to the case.

The dial is a white enamel face with black enamel numbers and red minute markers.

It has ELGIN printed on the front.

It is in good condition as too is the crystal glass front.

The movement is a Elgin 7 jewel movement which is in ful working order.

the serial number is 13439432 and was made in 1907.

This is a nice pice and is valued at around £100-£120

How identify, date and value antiques.

When it comes to getting dates and valuations for any antiques or collectables you may have i don't see any point in asking antiques dealers as often they are going to tell you a price they are willing to pay and not what they are worth. My advice is to learn to value them yourself or use some of these online valuation sites.

Personally i would recommend doing some of the research yourself.

However do not under estimate the power of getting a reliable appraisal it can help an item reach its full value.

This is a good site which is also very cheap.

When doing some of the research yourself i would suggest you go about it in this way.

Firstly is to get some good quality reference books, my online Astore has many at cheap prices if you are interested. The sort of reference books you will need depends on what antiques you need to look up.

For example the Millers price guide is a general one and in my opinion is a basic essential for any collector,
If you collect porcelain then the encyclopedia of porcelain marks is a must.

Also if you are trying to value specific antiques or makes getting a reference book on them would be a very good idea.

I collect and sell many varieties of antiques and collectables, thus i have many reference books. Just to give you some idea of what you would need..

I have 3 porcelain encyclopedia's all later than 2007, a Miller's for every year for the last 10yrs, 3 English Silver and gold marks books, 1 continental silver marks, Autograph reference book, toys, antique stuffed bears, Book on Doulton and 30 other books. Some are used only to date antiques and some have price guides.

Secondly join any online antiques forums related to your subject matter. Often these are the best places to get up to date advice on your antiques, most of all 90% of these are free to join.

Thirdly search the Internet for specific examples of what you are trying to date and value, often the Internet has a wide range of examples, especially online auction sites like you know who!

Lastly if all else fails look at the period the item is from, the designs often give away clues to the age as with many antiques certain trends were used in certain periods, ie Art deco etc.

Remember value does change very rapidly in some cases so make sure you keep up to date with you collectables and the prices they fetch.

If you are buying antiques to sell try to buy at least 25% lower than the low end estimate so if you had an item valued at £100-£120 you want to buy at £75 at the most. Obviously there are exceptions to this rule but that comes down to common sense and judgement.

ROAMER WATCHES: VINTAGE MENS WRIST WATCH 1940

Roamer watches are very highly sought after and this is a very good example of an Early 1940's men's wrist watch with a date and calender.

It is features a stainless steel metal case which has Roamer watch co printed on the inside of the back cover and also stainless steel written on the outside.

The movement is a 17 jewel antimagnetic movement which is again impressed with the makers name.

The watch has a silver dial with red calender markers and a red metal calender hand.

It also has gold 10 minute number markers and gold arrows to mark the 5 minutes.

The hands are gold and there is a second dial at the six o'clock position.

It has Roamer, 17 jewel, calender and antimagnetic signed on the dial.

the strap is also present and is made from leather.

In this example the watch is in good condition with some minor scratches to the glass/

The movement works fine and is very clean.

Roamer watches vary in price but this one is worth in the region of £100-£130.

EISENBERG JEWELRY: FLORAL BROOCH

This is an Eisenberg Brooch dating most likely from the 1940's-50's based on the type of makers mark on the back.

It is a fantastic piece of vintage jewelry.

It is of a floral design with a two level cut rhinestones in the centre and cut rhinestone pear shaped leaves around the outside.

The back of this piece of jewelry is Rhodium plated and is also signed on the back in script with a large E.

This is in good condition and no stones are missing.

It measures 3 1/4" wide and 2" high.

This Eisenberg Jewelry floral Brooch is worth £50-£60

I have found Eisenberg Jewelry very hard to accurately date as the type of mark on the back gets reused in different periods. I have found that using guides on types of marks only useful when a particular piece of jewelry has a particular style typical of a certain period.

However as a guide here is what i have found out.

1930 - 1934 "Eisenberg Original" in dot matrix semi print script and "Original" in Roman type print.

1935 - 1940's signed Eisenberg in script.
Also the addition of Original ©, was continued to be used with out the dot matrix. script.

1941- script "E" about 1941, used either alone or with Eisenberg marks.

1948 - Ice" was added to the end.

late 1940's - 1950's block style "E" smaller then the script E was used.

Variations of Ice and some of these examples were used again in the 50's and 70's.

Pieces from the 60's and 90's carried no signature.

Please note this really is a rough guide so if anyone has some more accurate data please feel free to leave a comment and i will update as and when i can.

BACCARAT PAPERWEIGHT PANSY 1880's

Baccarat glass is highly collectable with some of the rarest fetching thousands. This is a fine example of a late 19th century Baccarat paperweight with a pansy design.

The Pansy flower is greens stem with a yellow and purple flower.

The detail for this early paperweight is very nice especial the pistil and stamen.

It has a star cut bottom and the diameters are approx 1.5" x 1.5".

This is dated at around the 1880's.

This example is in good condition as in no cracks chips or surface scratches.

As with most collectables condition is key to how much it is worth.

This rare Baccarat paperweight in it present condition (near mint) is worth £70-£100.

Baccarat Crystal was founded in the late 18th century by permission of the french king Louis XV. Its name originated from the town the company was founded in.

Baccarat is known for its variety of high quality glass works and this paper weight is a fine piece from the late 19th century.

VINTAGE HAMILTON WATCH MEN'S 1941

This is a fine example of an early Hamilton Watch Company men's wrist watch, dating from around 1941.

The case is 10 carat filled gold and is a 1941 'Vincent' model.

This example has some minor wear to the case.

The movement is a Hamilton 980 17 jewel manual wind movement.

The movement in this vintage Hamilton wrist watch is working well and keeps pretty good time.

It has a fine leather strap which looks original and has a lizard skin pattern to it.

This watches dial has a bronzed face with gold hands and gold numbers.

The makers name is also signed Hamilton on the dial and a second dial is also at the six o'clock position.

Between the numbers is a black enamel decoration.

The dial is in good condition, and the glass crystal is in good condition.

A vintage Hamilton men's wrist watch in this condition is worth around £90-£110.

WARMINK CLOCK: BRACKET CLOCK WITH WESTMINSTER CHIMES

This is a stunning a Warmink Bracket clock from the 1970's with westminster chimes.

It has a gorgeous black wooden case with nice square stepped brass feet.

It has a black gloss finish and brass handle to open the front.

The border around the clock face has a silver swirl patter on an off white pearl coloured background.

This continues throughout the clock face only broken by a thick gold metal disc.

The numbers on the dial are on this gold disc in roman numerals.

Just underneath the 12 o'clock is clearly signed Warmink.

As i said this dates to around 1970 ish.

It is in working order and this example although in no way antique is will fetch a good price.

I value this Warmink Bracket clock at around £200-£300.

Warmink is a brand of clock made in Holland. I do not see many come up in auction often but they do tend to fetch a good price.

BALDA CAMERA: A BALDA BALDESSA 35MM

This is a vintage camera by Balda Kamera Werk. it is a 35mm "baldessa" range finder model.

It is from around the 1950's and has coupled range finder, Prontor SVS with 10x shutter speed, and a F2.8 45mm lens.

It does have delayed action function but in this example it does need attention.

This will ultimately affect price.

However the rangefinder works and the lens is clean with no scratches or damage which is a big plus.

It has a metal and plastic case.

It is in full working order apart from the delayed action but is well used.

A Balda Camera such as this is in perfect working order and good condition is worth between £20-£40

IWC INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO SCHAFFHAUSEN CHRONOMETER WATCH

Here is a IWC International watch company Schaffhausen chronometer wrist watch with a 17 jewel movement from the 1920's.

The movement has the serial number 696142 and is in good working order.

It is a 17 jewel white,rodium movement,cal.74-17.lig.H4.

It features a stainless steel case built to perfectly house the IWC movement.

It is glass both front and back.

The dial white enamel with black Arabic numbers and the hands are a typical whip and spade in blue steel.

It has a seconds dial at the six position.

It is singed with International Watch co Shaffhausen.

It has a leather strap but unsure if it is original.

This is worth £350-£450.

The IWC or International watch company was founded in 1868 by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones and has continued to operate ever since.

It is a very collectable type of watch and IWC watches can fetch a good price.

RARE NORITAKE VASE 22ct GILDED 1920's

This is probably one of the finest examples of Japanese Nippon Noritake i have seen on the market lately.

It is a c.1920 gilded jeweled Noritake urn vase which features a subtle floral background which is quite stunning.

It has a floral design about 2" from the top with heavy 22ct gilding.

It is also heavily gilded on the horn handles, the base and around the body of the vase.

It is covered in gold jeweled decoration all over which add to this spectacular piece.

The detail in the gilding the jewelry and everything else is first rate.

This example is in mint condition and to put an accurate value is difficult.

I would estimate to the right person it could make in excess for £400.

Noritake is one of the most popular imported china from japan and is highly collectable.

1830-50 MAUCHLINE WARE SPOOL BOX

Here is a fine example of scottish W & A Smith Mauchline ware from the mid victorian period.

It is a spool box made around 1830-50 with a very typical victorian design.

The top has a decoupaged panel with Lily of the Valley surrounding the words "Dinna Forget the Giver" and a intricate floral design.

The sides aslo have a floral pattern but also children playing between the gaps in the pattern.

It is bordered by jet black and also has a blue painted lining.

This is in good condition and all spool holders present.

It is valued at £170-£190

W & A Smiths were the ones most associated with Mauchline ware which gets its name from the Scottish town Mauchline where W & A Smith was based. However works of t a similar style period and often scottish coin the name. Proper Mauchline ware was made between 1820-1933.

SMITHS ENGLISH SILVER POCKET WATCH 1770

This is a fine example of a vintage Smiths of Dublin pocket watch from the late 18th century.

It is an English silver pair cased Verge, the outer case is silver and is London hall marked, which dates to 1770.

The inner case is again silver with its original stem and bow.

Both have no pattern just a smooth finish. This example has some minor scratches and dings.

The movement is a full plate verge movement with Jn Smith London impressed into it.

It also bears the serial number #2083.

The movement is in good working order which always help in getting a good price.

The dial is white enamel with black enamel roman numerals with minutes written above in mubers (5 minute intervals).

The hands are blue rolled steel beetle and poker hands.

The dial and hands are in good condition.

It is valued at around £1200-£1250

ROYAL DUX PORCELAIN LADY FIGURINE

This is a fantastic example of a Royal Dux Nude lady figurine by the renowned designer Elly Strobach.

This porcelain petite female nude lady figurine is very well designed the colours pale and subtle.

The lady has blonde hair blue eyes and is sitting in a seated position.

This is a typical Royal Dux 1930's art deco piece.

It has the sticker on the base of the statue. Also marked with the Royal Dux triangle makers mark on the base as well as "33" "711" "21" "41". It is also signed Elly Strobach.

This is in very good condition with no chips cracks or crazing.

In this condition this Royal Dux lady Figurine is valued at £100-£110

Royal Dux is the more common name for the Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur, which was founded by E. Eichler in Dux, Bohemia (now Duchov, Czech Republic), in 1860.

Elly Strobach was a top designer for Royal Dux in the late 1920's - 1930's. She is also known for her works with Doulton and others.

CHINESE JiaQing BLUE CLOISONNE VASE

This is a fine example of a Chinese metal work and enamel cloisonne vase.

As mentioned in the title it dates from between the QianLong early JiaQing period.

This makes this example between the 1780's and up to but not beyond 1820.

This cloisonne vase has a very unusual shape to it, the vase has a bulb shaped body with ornate feet and an extended ornate neck and top.

The majority of the body is a blue enamel with a unique floral design and swirl pattern in other colours.

The feet are gold enamelled and very intricately designed, with a ivy style trim around the base of the vase.

As you can imagine this cloisonne vase is very heavy.

It does have minor damage so it will affect the value.

Chinese cloisonne is very popular in today's antiques market and some can be worth a lot of money.

This example in its condition is probably worth between £300-£400

A PAIR OF GILDED SATSUMA POTTERY VASES

This is a stunning example of a pair of Japanese Satsuma vases with a gilded and jewelled dragon.

It is signed on the underside.

I believe these were made in the mid 19th century based on similar examples but i am not 100% on that.

It has a design of the immortals on these stunning examples of Japanese Satsuma Pottery.

The intricate detail is stunning with hand painted typical Japanese figures and scenery.

It has many small strokes of gilding to add to the whole effect.

Around the neck and forming on the lip of both the vases is a jewel eyed gilded dragon.

They are in very good condition and are valued at around £130-£170

Satsuma Pottery is a type of Japanese earthenware which has a very distinct look to it, most often coined when referring to Japanese ware that has a cracked glaze and a very elaborate heavily gilded design.

1930'S TAG HEUER PALADIN GENTS CHRONOGRAPH

This is an early example of the famous watch maker Tag Heuer, who are well known for their Formula 1 range of wrist watches.

Here is a 1930's Vintage Heuer Paladin "medical dial" chronograph with a gold filled case.

The dial is a white enamelled face with black roman numeral hour markers. The hands are blue rolled steel.
It is signed Heuer Paladin and in red has base 30 pulsations in red.

The dial, numerals and hands are in good condition.

This chronographs movement is a Ed Heuer 15 Jewel, pillar wheel manual wind movement.

It is signed Ed Heuer & co.

This example is in full working order.

The case is a gold filled one with the heuer logo impressed into it. It also bears the serial mark 317.693.

It is worth in good condition between £800-£1000.

Tag heuer have beeen about since 1860 and along with making chronographer's they have made many different models of wrist watches and other time pieces.

ANTIQUE 1950's OMEGA 9ct GOLD LADIES WATCH

This is a very typical example of a in 20th century Omega ladies watch with a 17 jewel movement.

It is made from precious metal 9ct gold to be more precise.

It has a lovely gold cord band bracelet strap.

The watch case is gold with an inscription inside the cover. It does have some scuffing to the gold which would affect the value.

The watch movement is a 17 jewel, it has omega impressed on it and the serial number12132376. Which dates the watch to 1950.

The movement is in full working order and the watch is running well.

The dial is a white enamel faced and has gold enamel numbered hour markers. The hands are either gold or gold coloured metal or plate.

These are all in mint condition as too is the glass.

It also has Omega signed in gold on the dial.

The strap on this ladies watch, is unlikely to be original however i can not say that for sure.

In this condition it is valued at around £85-£100

Omega produce some of the finest watches and have been doing so for over 100 years. Some of there pieces can make a fair price. Many old examples are of high quality precious metal where as today in the mainstream they are more well known for their high quality sports watches.

1966 DINKY TOY THUNDERBIRD 2 MK1

This is an ultra rare Thunderbirds dinky toy. It is a first edition Thunderbird 2 model number 101 which was made only in 1966.

It is green with the typical red thrusters pods etc and the MK1 typical chrome inserts. It has the decals for Thunderbird 2 plus numbers on the wing.

The paint on this model is in very good condition as is the rest.

All the movable parts are working as expected.

This example is unboxed which does affect the price.

However as is this dinky toy Thunderbird 2 is valued at £130-£150, boxed i have seen sell for £220-£250

Dinky toy, cars vans and examples like this are highly collectable and many have survived due to their durable workmanship. However like with most things condition is key to getting a good price. Having the box is a very good advantage too.

VINTAGE AIRFIX HAWKER HURRICANE MODEL KIT

This classic boxed 1973 Airfix super kit is of the WWII MK1 Hawker Hurricane.

The scale is 1:24.

All the parts are in good condition and are factory sealed.

The decals are also in very good condition with no fading or aging to the paper.

It is fully boxed, which is also in very very good condition.

It also still has its instruction manual.

The super kits were also designed to house an Airfix 1.5 volt motor this is true of the Hawker Hurricane as well.

Often the decals give pilot names of actual pilots serving in those times. This does have actual pilot names who served in WWII.

To find a classic airfix kit in good condition is rare and an essential buy for any model collector.

This is valued between £90-£110.

LE CUIVRE 9ct ROSE GOLD POCKET WATCH

This is an antique 9ct rose gold pocket watch with a cuivre inner dust cover patent number 226050/.07.

The maker is unknown but is likely to be a Swiss watch.

On the inner cover it is impressed with Cuivre, the word literally means brass so it is a fair assumption it is brass.

The outer case is 9 carat rose gold.

It is marked 9 .375, and also has an import mark, the letter n in a circle.
Also the makers mark looks like GS or CS. and also an emblem of some kind.

The crown is also marked 9 .375.

It also has a patent number of 22650/.07, this number is on the movement and also on the inner case, the inner case also has a large lion outstretched impressed into it.

It certainly has been over wound so is in need of restoration.

This has no makers mark on the dial and the front part which includes the crystal.

The dial is a very basic white faced, painted black enamel roman numerals and the hands are the standard blue steel spade (hour) and whip(minute) hands.

These are all in very good condition.

Sold for £51.01

Antique Zenith pocket watch 14K white gold

This antique watch is a very simply designed but beautiful Zenith white gold pocket watch with a 19 jewel movement.

I'm afraid i don't have a date for this piece.

It features a 14 carat white gold case with filigreed sides.

The inside of the case reads E.E.R Wadsworth 14 Karat, also the serial number reads 1115263.

The case is in good condition with only very minor scratches.

The movement is a 19 jewel Zenith co 8 adjustable movement which is clearly stamped on it. It reads: Zenith Watch Co. Prima 19 Jewels, 8 Adj. The serials do not match to the case as it reads 2496356

The movement works fine and keeps good time.

The dial is white enamel with black enamel numbers and black hands.

All of which are in good condition, the crystal is also present.

This is valued at £600-£700

Movado pocket watch 18 carat gold with a 15 jewel movement.

This hunters pocket watch is a Movado 18 carat gold cased pocket watch.

It is a very nice example of a Movado pocket watch with a lovely 15 jewel movement.

It has a 18K gold hunters case with inscriptions and gold marks on the inside.

It is inscribed with the name, Grand Prix, the dates 1905 and 1910, plus also the Movado logo, which looks very much like four coins.

The case is in mint condition and the reference number on the case is 690675.

The movement is a 15 jewel Movado Swiss movement which also is in good working order.

It is signed with the name plus 15 jewel and 4 adj.

The cream enamel dial has black enamelled Arabic numbers with spade and whip blue steel hands.

Again the dial is in very good condition.

This is valued at £500-£600

Antique 1923 Longines Chronograph watch 18 carat rose gold.

This is a fantastic example of a Longines of Switzerland medical chronograph pocket watch.

It has an 18 carat rose gold case with 2 engraved series of medals on the dust covers. It is also highly polished and without any scratching. It also has inscriptions and serial markings that match the movement.

The movement is a Longines Caliber 19.73N and of the highest quality.

It is fully working and bears the serial number 4129871 and was made in 1923.

The dial is white enamel with red Arabic numerals and blue steel hands.

It also has Longines on the dial along with suiza

Again in this example it is in pristine condition and is worth approximately £800.

It is absolutely stunning craftsmanship so i thought it would make a nice edition to this blog.

Longines was formally a company dating back to around the 1830's in Switzerland. Like this example they made some of the finest chronographs and other pocket watches.

It is now currently owned as a brand of the company Swatch.

Bing and Grondahl Royal Copenhagen Nurses Figurine

This is a great example of a Bing and Grondahl piece of Collectable porcelain.

It is a B&G Royal Copenhagen nurses figurine model number (2379).

The nurse is measuring medicine and the colours of this figurine are typically subtle.

She has a blue shirt under a white apron and also has very pale pink skin.

This forms a very typical B&G design which looks so delicate.

It has the makers stamp on the underside as expected and stands at 9" high.

It is unboxed but is in mint condition.

Bing and Grondahl started manufacturing porcelain in 1853 by Fredrik Grondahl and brothers Meyer and Jacob Bing.

It later became known as Royal Copenhagen after its merger with the Royal Porcelain Factory.

B&G is highly sought after as too is the latter company Royal Copenhagen.

This is valued at between £190-£220

Elegant antique Elm Chinese or Chinoiserie dining table

This is a fine example of antique Chinoiserie furniture, made from Elm and looking fantastic.

It is a Chinese Elm dining table without the chairs though.

It features a glass top which has no chips cracks or noticeable deep scratches.

Some minor surface scuffs.

it has scrolled feet with square shaped legs and geometric wave frieze.

It has five red wood inlayed panels to contrast the beautiful elm table.

These are carved to numerous geometric shapes which under the Glass give a very striking appearance to the antique table.

This is truly a masterful piece of Chinese furniture.

Value £500-£600.

Antique Mahogany Chinese Chippendale table and chairs

This is a great example of chinese table and chairs in the style of the famous furniture designer Thomas Chippendale.

It is a gorgeous victorian mahogany dining table with matching set of 8 chairs.

The table features hand crafted ball and claw feet which have a stunning amount of detail.

It has further designs to the table top with an egg and dart pattern.

The table has no sign of wood worm rot and is very sturdy.

The chairs although matching have a gothic feel to them.

They have a hand carved backspat and some very intricate design to the legs and to the arm rests.

They comprise of two arm chairs and 6 side.

The seats are white upholstered with a gothic print. The chairs are also very sturdy.

The fabric is new.

The estimate on this piece of chinese chippendale is a modest £5000-£5500.

WW1 Medals 1914-1915 Star plus defense and victory medals.

Here are 3 service medals from the first world war for those who like war memorabilia.

These belonged to one serviceman who served in WW1 as a Sub lieutenant, then promoted to lieutenant.

The medals are the 1914-15 star, the defence and victory medals.

The medals are inscribed with the soldiers name and respective rank.

The ribbons and the medals are in good condition.

They are all on one bar which is also inscribed.

These medals sold for £135.00.

WW1 service medals are very collectable and some fetch far more than the examples shown.

Noritake Japanese Porcelain Coffee pot circa 1920

This is a stunning 1920's Japanese Noritake Nippon coffee pot similar to a vase in my collection.

It is heavily gilded with an amazing painted landscape scene on the body.

It has Yachts on a lake with a villa in the background with trees alongside the lake.

The handle is gilded and the top of the spout.

Both the spout and lid have a deep blue glaze which is quite striking.

It has a floral gilded design around this glaze and a cream pattern breaking up the blue.

The tea pot lids handle is quite unusual standing in an almost triangular fashion.

This is a great cheap example of the famous Japanese porcelain manufacturer.

It has no noticeable chips or cracks but two minor chips minor nicks to the gilding the lid.

It has Noritake stamped on the underside.

This worth in the region of £50-£80

1924-1934 White Steiff teddy bear

Here is a great example of a quality antique Steiff bear, this example is of a 1924-1934 white plush bear.

It is made from white mohair plush which is in quite good condition although some discolouration and fading due to its age.

It has all four claws intact no worn patches and still has its button in the ear.

It does have the remainder of the red tag.

The red tag indicates it is from around the period 1924-36.

It is five way jointed and stands roughly 20cm seated.

Steiff bears can sell for quite a considerable amount of money, this obviously depends on age condition, desirability and rarity.

Generally a 1920's in good condition would be worth considerably more,

This one was put in at auction for £3200 which is not far off the guide price.

Roamer watch company watches: Gents 1950's 17 jewel

Here is a vintage swiss gold plated gents Roamer watch with leather strap.

It has a 17 jewel swiss movement which is fully working and keeps good time.

The dial is an off white almost cream colour with black painted numbers.

The hands are gold metal (possibly gold plate) both the hands and dial are in good condition.

On the dial it is written Roamer 17 jewel.

The case is gold plated with a snap back style back.

The gold plate is largely intact but has some minor wear in places.

Roamer Watch company was founded in 1888 by Fritz meyer. It is a genuine Swiss company that has been trading since then.

The most famous movements by Roamer are the "Meyer & Studeli" (MST) and are the most highly sought after.

It is valued at £30-£40

You are viewing 2 simple designed gold waltham pocket watches size 0. They were made in 1906.

i am not sure of the movement but on the inside it is inscribed American Waltham watch company.

I believe them to be gold but as this is not one of my listings i am unsure.

The date via the serial numbers puts both of them made around 1906.

The first serial number is 14292618 and the second is 14508903.

These are quite plain in design and have black enamelled dials.

They come with a gold pocket watch chain.

I value these at £70-£100.

White or pale 9ct gold Claddagh Ring antique

Here is a great example of a piece of simple pale gold jewelry.

At the moment the Claddagh rings are very fashionable and especially in white gold.

This particular one is a 9ct very pale gold Claddagh ring.

It is size 0 and is definitely antique, possibly 1930's but probably a little later than that.

It is fairly heavy weighing around 4 grammes.

It does have some scuffs and scratches.

i estimate it to be worth around £40-£50

Van Cleef and Arpels Ruby and Emerald Purse 1920

Here is a Vintage Van Cleef and Arpels precious stone black purse dating from around the 1920's.

This is probably one of the most attractive finds on EBay that i have come across in a long time.

It has a combination of Emeralds, Amethysts, and rubies set into a black velvet hand bag.

It has a intricately designed gold embroidered pattern,

It also bears the serial number 114076 on the underside.

The jewelers Van Cleef and ARpel's was founded in 1906 in Paris. It was founded by Alfred Van Cleef and Salomon Arpels. The company is still running today and is very successful.

This item is valued at a modest £45,000

Jules Jurgensen Vintage 14 carat gold wrist watch

Gold Hamilton Pocket watch 910 17 Jewel Movement

Here is a very nice pocket watch by the famous watch maker Hamilton Watch company.

This is a gold Hamilton size 12 pocket watch, with a very ornate design to it an a 910 17 jewel movement.

It was made around 1922.

The watch features a gleaming gold case which is in wonderful condition with no dents, dings, scuffs or scrapes and no signs of wear.

The edge of the covers have an ornate engraved design which is in great condition with no wear and the gleaming bezel houses a superb silver dial which is in perfect condition with no discoloration from age.

The dial has black enamelled numbers and blue coloured hands.

The crystal is in in immaculate condition.

The gleaming movement is marked Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, PA 17 jewels 910 and serial #1941709 which dates it to circa 1922, also it keeps very good time.

The Hamilton watch company is an American watch maker that was established in 1892.

The brand is still going today although it is actually now owned by Swatch Group Ltd.

1960-70's Jaeger le Coultre gents metal wrist watch

This is a good example of a mid price range Jaeger Le coutre men's wrist watch of the late 1960's and 70's.

I do not have a great amount of detail regarding this watch other than i believe it to be a stainless steel case with enamelled dial.

It does bear the serial number 780351.

It has a very plain design. the dial is bronzed with Jaeger printed on it.

The dial is slightly worn with age but is still in good condition.

It has a glass front which does have some minor scratches.

I am unsure of the movement and would rather not has it a guess either.

Jaeger does make some high quality watches for all price ranges and this is true through out its history.

This example is worth £70-£100.

Ladies 9ct Gold Rolex Unicorn 15 jewel wrist watch 1924

This is a mint and rare condition solid 9k gold men's Rolex Unicorn cushioned cased wrist watch, with a 10.5 hunter type 15 jewel movement.

It was made in the mid 1920's.

The case is 9K solid gold and in good condition.

It is marked R.W.C. ltd for the Rolex watch company.

The dial is in stunning condition and is a satin silver colour with gold batten hour markers and signed "Unicorn, Swiss Made, Northern GoldSmiths".

It has blue enamelled hands which are very well done.

The movement is a 15 jewel with shiny blued steel Bosely regulator, and ruby endstone setting, blue steel screws. With bimetallic balance, with over coiled hairspring.

It keeps very good time.

This is a great example of a Rolex Unicorn and is valued at around £800-£900

1920-30 Gold Jules Jurgensen Manual Wind Wrist watch

This is a 14 carat gold rectangular Jules Jurgensen wrist watch with a 17 Jewel manual wind movement.

I am not too sure of the date but i would estimate from the design to be made around 1930's maybe a touch later.

The 14 carat gold case has a very slight rose tinge to it which adds to the asthetic value of this piece.

It does have minor scratching to the gold in places.

The dial is amber with black enamelled numbers and green enamelled hands.

Both are in good condition.
It has a glass front/crystal

It has a black leather strap with a gold plated buckle.

After Jules Jurgensen founded the company in 1777 it has gone from strength to strength and is still a renowned and prestigiuos watch maker.

This piece is valued at around £200-£300.

18K white gold Nivada Croton Grenchen17 jewels gents wrist watch

This is a great example of a Nivada 17 Jewel wrist watch from the 1960's.

It features a solid 18K white gold casing which is in pristine condition.

It has a 17 Jewels wind up movement which keeps good time.

It is inscribed with 17 jewels on the movement and also Grenchen and croton.

It bears the serial number 4962 on the case and #34 and A2598 on the movement.
It has an off white dial with in layed diamonds where the numbers should be.

The hands are silver, both the hands and dial are in very good condition.

It has a crystal glass front which also is in great condition.

This really is a good example of the Swiss companies workmanship and would be a great find to anyone.

It is valued at around £500-£600.

This exact model is actually still on offer so it might be an idea to talk to the buyer on EBay if your interested. Unfortunately i cannot help as it is not one of my lots.

1910 -1915 Hebdomas 8 Day silver Hunters watch

This is a Hebdomas 8 day Hunters pocket watch with silver case and silver inlay.

It was made circa 1910 to 1915.

The silver case is marked .925 silver. and therefore sterling silver.

The watch keeps great time.

it has an 8 Days lever movement has a large mainspring which takes up the whole of the back of the movement has is covered by a large mainspring cover.

It is signed 8 day and swiss made.

The case is a size 16 Silver hunters case.

It is signed “Hebdomas Registered”. The case is decorated with engine turning and features a vacant crest on the front.

It does have some wear and some minor dents.

The Dial is white enamel and has an exposed balance and regulator.

It is decorated with green and silver enamel Cartouche numbers and also a gold and silver inlay with a touch of blue enamel.

The dial and hands are in mint codition.

This watch is probably the more common Hebdomas you are likely to find but it is still very valuable and very attractive.

It values at around £400-£500 in this condition.

Gold Baume and Mercier Wrist watch 1930's

This is a 9K gold filled Baume & Mercier automatic wrist watch made around 1930.

It also features a stainless steel back and a 17 jewels hammer movement.

It has a silver painted dial with gold enamelled numbers and gold hands.

It is clearly marked Baume and Mercier Geneve in several places.

It is complete with strap.

The case is in good condition although it does have some minor scratching to the gold.

The glass and face are in good condition as is the gold enamel numbering.

It is fully working and is a very good example of a mid range classic watch in a near to mint condition.

9ct Rose Gold Accurist 15 jewel Wrist watch c.1950

Here is a 9ct rose gold 1950 Accurist Swiss 15 jewel Gents wrist watch complete with leather strap.

It has a 9ct soild Rose Gold case fully hallmarked for London 1950 9.375 Goldsmith AwLd.

The case is in ok condition for its with a few minor dents and scratches.

The glass is original and the hands are present and in good condition, although the glass does have some scratching to it

The face comes marked Accurist in the centre and swiss made at the bottom. It has some minor wear but overal in good condition.

Brown leather strap in used condition but still usable.

The movement is in a very clean state for its age and comes marked Swiss 15 Jewels.

This watch does keep good time, however it could benefit with a clean up.

The watch in mint condition is valued between £40-£80.

Ebel ladies 18K diamond bezel Bracelet watch c.1911

Here is a stunning 18K ladies bracelet wrist watch made by EBEL in 1911.

It features a diamond and 18K gold bezel with a stainless steel back.

The mother of pearl dial has twelve cut diamonds in place of numbers and is so pretty. The hands i believe to be 18K Gold.

This really is a rare find.

It features a signed Swizz quartz movement.

It also has a steel and gold bracelet strap.

This is a unique piece by a top watch maker.

EBEL is renowned all over the world for its quality watches and this is probably one of the best examples of the early 1920's.

It is valued at a modest £500 -£600.

EBEL only formed in 1911 so this is very likely to be an early piece.

Wooden Smiths Empire Westminster Mantle clock 1910-1930

Here is a Wooden dialed and housed mantle clock Made by Smiths Empire of Enfield.

It was made around the early 20th century somewhere between 1910-30.

The mechanism feels over wound so does need attention.

The smiths Empire was taken over by Ingersol in the 1900's but its ranges were for tailored for the middle class who did not have the financial means to buy a far more prestigious brand.

However watches and clocks by Smiths were still of the highest quality and highlly collectable.

This particular item values at around £30 - £60 in perfect working order.

Silver Dent and co Fusse pocket watch dated 1914

Here is a fantastic Dent & co Fusse silver size 16 Pocket watch.

The seller believe this to be dated from around 1914 however i believe with the name and property addresses it is likely to be much older, somewhere between 1861-64. Plus with the inscription watchmaker to the queen is also a give away.

The case is very plain but is sterling silver and is in very good condition.

The dial is signed dent in enamel, the hands and the face are in good condition. It also bears the serial number 27930.

The movements are signed Dent and bear the inscription 61 Strand and the serial number 27930. It also has watchmaker to the queen inscribed on it.

This is likely to be Dent and Co 1861-64 although it maybe E Dent which is from 64 onwards.

A plain Dent pocket watch is valued at around £70-£80 but i wouldn't expect much more than that.

14K Gold Elgin Hunter Pocket watch c.1892 J.C. Adams

Here is a fantastic and intricately detailed Elgin National watch company size 16 Hunters pocket watch.

The case is a 14K gold hunters with a stunning engraved design. It does dont have any dents scratches or rubbing, it is essentially as new condition.

The movemment is an Elgin 15 jewel and bears the serial number 4907869.

The crystal and dial are in good condition apart from one slight chip to the face.

It was made in 1892 or there abouts.

It is fully working and keeps good time.

This really is a great example of an Elgin Watch company pocket watch.

Elgin is often associated with the Waltham American watch company as it was set up by former associates of Waltham along with J.C Adams

It is valued at around £800 in perfect condition.

1922 Gold Elgin Watch Company 7 jewel Pocket watch

Here is a splendid Antique Elgin National Watch company Enamelled Gold 7 jewel size 16 Pocket watch made in 1922.

This watch is highly collectible and would be a great addition to any collector.

It features a gold case and has a unique decorative enamelled face.

The decoration on the casing is exquisite and really these photo's do not do it any justice.

The casing does have some minor dents but otherwise it is in very good condition.

The crystal is in perfect condition however the face does show some minor hairline cracks.

The movement is a 7 jewel size 16.

The movement is running and keeps time well

The serial number on the movement is 25599321 and made in 1922.

The Elgin National Watch Company was founded in Massachusetts in 1864 by watch maker J.C. Adams and others. The company does actually still operate today.

It has also been associated with the more famous Waltham American Watch Company.

It is a highly collectable Brand of watch and this particular piece if mint would fetch £4000+.

1920-30 Nivada Watch Company Platinum and Diamond Wrist watch

Here is a Art Deco Platinum and diamond Wrist watch made by the Nivada Watch Co. of Switzerland in the late 1920s.

It has a high-grade Seventeen Jewel Baguette movement is finished with 26 Genuine Diamonds that adorn the bezel.

The watch itself measures 30mm end to end and 10.5mm in width (12mm with winding crown)original ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition.

It is complete with unblemished black enamel numerals, a 60 minute checkered outer track border and original blued steel Spade-style hands.

It is signed SWISS at the base of the dial.

The glass face is a flawless solid glass crystal.

The hinged-back, rectangular-form case is Solid Platinum and in excellent order as well, featuring a total of 26 genuine diamonds weighing .55 to .60 points in total.

The matching winding crown is in excellent and operates smoothly.

The Seventeen Jewel movement is signed NIVDA W. CO., 17 JEWELS SEVENTEEN - SWISS. The inside of the case lid is stamped 10% IRID. – PLAT

The watch does not come with its original strap which is a slight shame.

The Nivada watch company was founded in 1879 in Switzerland. The watch maker has been making quality time pieces since then and is world renowned for its workmanship.

This piece is valued at around £400-£500

Rare Japanese Noritake Nippon Vase 1891-1911

This is a very RARE and desirable Old Noritake Nippon vase. It features a cockatoo and moriage pine cones.

The vase stands 7 3/4" (19.5 cm) tall and is 7 1/2" wide.

There are two moriage decorated loop handles and four moriage decorated feet. This rare vase is in wonderful, outstanding condition.

There is no missing moriage and there are no chips, cracks, repairs or flaws of any kind.
It is in immaculate condition and worth £3,000.

The vase is marked with the Morimura Brothers' blue maple leaf "hand painted Nippon" mark (1891 - 1911).

Noritake Co Limited was founded in japan in 1876, and following a merger the name "Nippon" from the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd was added to the makers stamp. It is widely agreed that this piece is from the golden years of Noritake and is a very fine example of the noritake works.

This example is worth £400-£500

1960's Accurist 21 jewel 9ct Gold wrist watch

Here is a vintage Gents 9ct gold Accurist wrist watch.

This is an extremely slim watch, it has 21 jewels, has .375 an assay mark which I do not recognise and another mark which I also do not recognise.

It probably dates from the early 1960's however it may be slightly newer than that.

The watch has roman numerals and is in good working condition, however the casing does have a few scratches which look like they were caused when it has been opened in the past.

However these are not really a major issue.

There are also a couple of light marks on the dial with a slightly darker one a little over the number 8 position and also it has no glass, I cannot see how the watch opens so this is sold as seen on this listing.

This particular watch is valued at around £35-£40 in its current condition.

Accurist is a British watch maker who has been making watches since 1946. It was founded by Asher and Rebecca Loftus. Its is a far lower end market type watch in comparison to the likes of Rolex, however it is still quality watch maker. Accurist still makes watches today and is still as successful as it has ever been.

18K rose gold Jaeger LeCoultre Tourbillon Gents wrist watch.

Here is an example of the finest in wqatch making, and although not part of my collection i thought to show it would do it great justice. It is a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso 18K Rose Gold Tourbillon with Power Reserve Gent's watch with 18K RG Deployant buckle.

This model is extremely rare, limited to 500

The model measures 42mm x 26mm. It's a full size contemporary gentleman's model, a very elegant casual dress watch that can go with suit, as well as jeans.

Both the dial side and the reverse side are painstakingly finished beautifully with various guilloche patterns. A true materpiece!

The tourbillon is one of the highest complications in the watch world. It's just mesmerizing to look at the tourbillion cage turn.

Comes with original 18K Rose gold JLC deployant buckle.

The original JLC black crocodile strap is brand new and can accommodate a wrist up to 9 inches.

It is in perfect condition and could make in excess of £100,000.

Jager Lecoultre was founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre.
Although it wasn't until his son got into the business that Jaeger went into mass production.

It is now one of the most prestigious of all the leading watch makers.

Italian Arthur Graizely Hebdomas Silver wrist watch 1918

Here is an antique Hebdomas 8 Days Sterling silver Swiss Wristwatch 7 Jewels.

It has a discolored celluloid glass and slightly tarnished case.

it measures 1-5/16" in diameter.

It has the silver hallmarks, along with Hebdo W. Co Swiss 925 Sterling Silver, 592336and dedicated J.M. Henry from Mother Dec 1918.

Stamped on the movement Hebdomas W Co 7 Jewels Swiss (1?) Adjustment.

Hebdomas is a very rare find indeed on Ebay.

The brand only started around the later 1890's and is an Italian watch maker. The company only really rose to fame Arthur Graizely and some watches can make £1000's.

This in its condition may only make £200-£300.

It is a magnificent ladies mini EBEL solid 18Ct Classic wave bracelet intergrated with monocoque hexhangonal and a solid 18Ct yellow gold case. This particular model is called the Classic wave.

It also has 5 distinctive 18ct gold screws on the Bezel.

Gold hand applied Roman Numeral Dial on a champagne colour Dial,

DIAL complete with bezel & including winder are = 29mm

The length of the Strap is 6.25 INCH long,

Ebel quartz movement ,with Scratch-proof

Anti reflect Sapphire crystal Glass

The Strap has the Ebel Logo impressed into the 18Ct gold

This is a VERY heavy watch 80Grams of 18Ct gold

This is a stunning watch and it values at around £2,800.

EBEL is a well renouned watchmaker, some argue on par with the likes of Rolex.

Ebel was founded in 1911 by Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy who applied to register the Ebel brand for watches (Eugène Blum Et Lévy) with the chamber of commerce in the watch making capital, La Chaux de Fonds.

1912 • EBEL brought out its first wristwatches.

The wave braclet became popular in the 70's but i am un sure if it stared earlier than that.

Smiths Astral 'Empire' gents wrist watch

Here is a fine example of a vintage gents 9ct gold Smtihs Astral wrist watch.

It has a leather strap which looks to be in good condition.

Astral is made by the same english watch maker that makes the Smiths Empire that have been shown in earlier posts.

This watch is most likely 9ct Gold but seeing as it is not on the advert i can not be sure.

The seller is estimating it will sell for £200 as it is in perfect working order.

Smiths Empire and Astrals are very popular with collectors and some quality pieces can fetch hundreds of pounds.

SILVER RICHARD EDWARD DENT POCKET WATCH EARLY MOVEMENT NO 57076

Here is a Solid Silver Dent Pocket Watch in a DRGM case. The case the movement sits in is solid silver and is from the London assay office with a date letter of 1909.

It is possible if the date is correct that it would be E Dent & co ltd.

I am not 100% sure but I think the movement is much earlier as it has DENT in the normal triangle but the address is 61 Strand and 4 Royal Exchange, London which leads me to think it is more likely to be Richard Edward Dent.

Also on the movement are the words "Watchmaker to the King" and a registered no of 57076.

The back of the case has come off so will need repairing.

The watch is not working.

The other case looks like it is steel or a similar material.

1733 FUSEE PAIRED POCKET WATCH KEY WIND T SIMPLING Webb

Here is a very early antique Fusee silver pocket watch dated 1733.
The movement has Tho Simpling 1733, LICHFIELD engraved into it and also has a very pretty pierced watch cock.
I assume it has a verge movement and would appreciate any advice from experts out there if they can confirm this is so.
This is not working and as I am not an expert I have no idea how to repair it.
The dial is in very good condition with one small stain next to the number two and there are a few very light hairline cracks to the face, these are more noticeable only on close examination.
The glass is in very good condition considering the age of the watch with very little scratching.
The actual case the watch is seated in has the Birmingham Assay office hallmark with a date letter of X for the date of 1795, and the makers mark of V & C (there is another letter but the mark is rubbed and I cannot make it out).
The paired case has a watch paper in the back which reads Mr Smith, Wimbish Rep,d May 8th 1890, the back of the watch paper has printed Webb Watch & Clock Maker.
The assay office is that of London with the makers mark of TG and a date letter of O with the closest match being 1729.
The date letter and Lion passant appear on the inside of the back and also the glass side of the case.
This is a definate must for the serious watch collectors.

Gold American Waltham Watch Company pocket watch 1897

Here is an extremely rare antique 18K gold American Waltham Watch Company pocket watch that was made around 1897.

This is not part of my EBay items but i wanted to show you the highest quality Waltham American Watch Company has to offer.

This pocket watch is the highest grade pocket watch that was available from the American Waltham Watch Company and is a very respectable item to have in any collection.

The watch is an American Grade (AWCO) Model 1888 and has 19 Jewels.

It is very rare for a piece of this quality to come up for auction often, so i suggest if it is still on sale on EBay buy it.

It is a mens 16 size watch that is 52mm’s in diameter and is housed in its it is housed in its original 18k Hallmarked English solid gold demi hunter enamelled case.

The dust cover is also engraved with the name of the original retailer which is Henry.W.Bedford. 67 Regent Street, London

The movement: American Grade (American Watch Co, AWCO) and is a model 1888 with 19 Jewels. The watch has the correct cap jewels on the forth pinion to make it 19 Jewels and an uncapped pallet pinion so it is not a 21 Jewel.

This AWCO grade of movement was the highest grade made by Waltham and was only made in limited numbers and was very expensive to purchase.

The American grade model 1888 production runs had a mix of 17 Jewel, 19 Jewel and 21 Jewel movements throughout the set production runs which makes it near impossible to know exact production number however estimates seem to be around the 400 made in total for the 19 Jewel Hunter in the American Grade.

The serial number on the movement is 6500774

This piece dates from 1897

As with all Waltham watch company time pieces, to get a rough date (if not engraved somewhere) use the serial numbers, the lower the older it is.

I will post the exact way to date them when i get the chance.
This really is a spectacular time piece, which can be seen just by the pictures.

Smiths Empire pocket Watch

Here is a fine example of a smiths pocket watch.

It features a whit dial green hands and is stering silver case.

Unfortunately this example is not working and is missing its glass front.

Smiths empire pocket watches are a model made by Smiths Industries limited.

I do not know much about the company other than the 2 most popular models were the Empire and the Astral.

Also After the 2nd world war the company briefly joined with Ingersol Watch Company although this only lasted until 1969.

Essentially this is a nautical clock but it is a fine piece to hang inside your home.

Jules Jurgensen watches are one of the most valuable and prestigious watch makers in the world and many of his time pieces sell for thousands.

Here are some useful facts that may help date your time pieces.

Jules Jurgensen came from a long line of expert quality watch makers, the first company was the watch making company bearing the name Larpent & Jürgensen founded in 1773 by Jurgen Jurgensen.

When he died in 1811 the business passed to his son Fredrik and the company name subsequently changed to frederik.

Jurgen's eldest son Urban also set up a company again following his christian name and the family name Jurgensen.

When Urban died in 1836 hi son Jules took over the company.

Jules Jurgensen’s most notable patent (1867) was his method of setting the hands of the watch by moving the bow forward (hunting case) or backward (open face).

He put guard rings on the bow so the clutch would not engage unless the front or back of the case was open.

These became such a style feature that American case makers imitated them and sold “Jurgensen style” cases with rings on the bows.

Here is a stunning 1750's 18k Repousse Paircase Verge Fusee by the renowned watchmaker John Ellicott.

The watch is in good condition for its age but has some minor wear.

It has a 18k Solid gold case with a fantastic and intricate design.

Both the watch case and movements have matching serial numbers.

John Ellicott was a renowned watch maker of the early 1700's and was commissioned to make watches for royalty such as Ferdinand VI.

Guide estimate £4,000 at least

Vintage Rolex Unicorn 9ct gold wrist watch 1920's

Here is a beautiful vintage 9ct gold 15 jewels Rolex Unicorn ladies wristwatch.The watch is in good working condition and keeps good time although this will need tweaking a little.

This also comes in its original presentation box.

The casing around the watch face has a pretty little embossed design, both back and front case are hinged to open easily.

The dial is a silver two tone colour and has Unicorn and Croydon & Sons, Ipswich and Swiss Made.

The hands are blue steel.

The movement has 15 Rubies, Swiss Made impressed into it.

The inside of the gold case has ROLEX 25 Worlds Records, Geneva Suisse, Has an impressed mark of two letter f laying above and below each other and a date letter of a small h.

Beneath this is the 9 .375 mark and then R.W.C Ltd, (for Rolex Watch Company Limited).

There is another mark of 518A and a serial number of 73871, beneath this is a small impressed cube on its edge with another cube inside and the mark of number 11.

The movement itself has been finished off with a lovely distinctive banding with UNICORN impressed on one of the gear wheels.

The dial needs a clean and there are a few little marks that may possibly be permanent.

The strap is in fair condition but I cannot imagine that this was the original strap.

Rolex was founded as a registered trade mark of Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis of London in 1908. They made watches using imported Swiss movements which they then installed into fine quality cases. Often the watches would be signed W&d. Rolex had many model/brand names for there particular ranges, for example Tudor.

Unicorn was another name used by the Rolex Watch Company in the 1920's, and is generally associated with the more affordable variety of Rolex in its time. However 80 odd years on the Rolex Unicorn has increased in value, and is fairly uncommon.

This example is worth between £150-£250.

William Baume Geneve silver pocket watch c.1920

Here is a lovely vintage Baume Geneve silver pocket watch.

This is marked fine silver on the inside back and dust cover.

The dial and the movement has Baume Geneve on it, although the movement has B & L impressed as well.

The watch is working but please be aware the post for the hands has broken and is stuck inside the key.

The watch is ticking away merrily but the hands cannot be moved.

The glass came out when I opened the front, but it stays in when the front is shut.

The Baume & Mercier Genève trademark was registered on 27th August 1920 by William Baume and Paul Mercier

Solid silver Fusee Pocket watch made by Edward John Dent watch maker to Queen Victoria

Here is a lovely Solid silver Fusee Pocket watch made my E J Dent of 61 Strand and 34 Royal Exchange London.

The watch maker is a very prolific one and is famous for his work on many large time pieces all over the UK.

This has a registration number of 38490.

The movement is also engraved with the watch makers name Dent and again the registration number.
The inside dust cover has been engraved October 1877.

The hallmarks are for the London assay office with the date letter A for 1876-1877.

However i am pretty sure the movements date to before this as the name E.J Dent was only used until 1853 which also corresponds to the dates of the premises mentioned.

All hands are present with a second sweeping hand and watch key. Unfortunately the watch is not working so will need looking at.

I think the fusee chain is there but as the watch is quite slim it is hard to see.

Final selling price £95.00

This sold far below its actual value, if you have a similar piece don't accept less than £250 as i have seen some go for £400-£500

About E.J. Dent

Edward John Dent was watchmaker renowned in his time for creating highly accurate time pieces. He was born 1790 and died in 1853.

Dents own business originated in 82 the strand but later moved to 61.

His was commissioned to create large time pieces for the UK the most prolific being Big Ben, however he died before its completion by his son Frederick Rippon Dent.

Here is a few little facts to help date his work, this is done through firstly the silver marks will give some indication as well as inscriptions, however the cases are often made elsewhere and thus it may not give an accurate date.

LADIES 8CT GOLD ROTARY WRIST WATCH LONDON ASSAY

Here is a 9ct gold ladies Rotary Wrist watch. This is in good working order.

I think the date is either 1960 or 1920 but the date letter is quite hard to read.

The assay office is that of London and the inside back is marked with makers mark of S.D 9 .375, the London assay, and the date letter that looks like an e.

The watch has 15 jewels, the bracelet is slightly expanding. I think it may need looking at as the clasp does not undo.

The bracelet is probably gold plated and the clasp is marked FLCRSPLY an impressed mark that looks like a makers mark and FRANCE.

Rotary Watches Ltd is a Swiss company which was established in 1895 by Moise Dreyfuss.

For a rough idea of dating Rotary watches a clue is whether it possesses the winged logo as it only started to be used from 1925. There have been minor changes over the years but it is still in use on today's watches.

Here is a Nuvo silver Castle charm which opens to show a cannon with cannon balls.

This is a nice size charm and is in fair condition although it does not stay shut so needs some attention.

Here is a very pretty Hammersley Bone China Salt, Pepper and Mustard pot Cruet set, this is decorated with very pretty Daffodils.

All three items are in good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing to the glaze or restoration.

Hammersley and Co., Longton, was set up in 1885 with potter George Harris Hammersley, who worked in partnership with Harvey Adams. It only became known as Hammersley and Co after 1887 before that it was Harvey Adams and Co.

It continued to produce china up until 1932

GEORGIAN GOLD INSCRIPTION MOURNING RING 1809 J GIBSON

Here is a 12ct rose gold Georgian Mourning ring with inscription underneath and a date of 1809.

I can make out the name John Gibson and the number 27 and the date 1809.

The ring has unfortunately suffered some damage, te setting is no longer there, it looks like it may have been set with either black jet or black enamel.

There also appears to be part of the design missing from one shoulder.

This weighs roughly 2.1grams.

ARMAND MARSEILLE GOOGLIES EYE DOLL HEAD & SHOULDERS

Here is a lovely little Armand Marseille Bisque headed Gogglies eyed doll head and shoulders, it has a very charismatic look about it with the blue eyes and smirk..

The base of the neck is marked with AM 320 11/0 Germany.

The dolls head and shoulders measures almost 6cm in height by 4cm wide at the base of the shoulders.

The face is very delicately painted with a dimpled chin, moulded blue eyes that look to the right as you look at it, rosie cheeks and a little moulded tuft of hair that comes from the top of the head down onto the forehead.

This is in lovely condition with no damage and no discolouration.

HISTORICAL LETTER NAPOLEON BONAPARTE 11TH SEPT 1819

Here is what I consider to be an important letter or document regarding Napoleon Bonaparte.

This letter was written by Captain Nichols and is dated 11th September 1819.

This also has Major Gorreguer, Secretary of States name incuded at the end and on the back page of this letter.

The writing is very faint and difficult to read but I can make out some words. This begins:-

"Dear Sir I believe that I saw ? Bonaparte".

There are other words that I think I can make out with one being Prison, Bonaparte appears about three times and I think Guardsman.

I would dearly love to know exactly what the letter is about.

It is made in Great Britain.

It has a white face, black paint numerals and lime colour hands.

The casing is in very good condition, however i do not think it is currently working.

The face measures 2.0 inches diameter excluding the Crown and Loop

The smiths empire watches were a brand of the Ingersoll Watch Company ltd which also produced another brand Ingersoll Triumph. The company itself began making watches in 1882, the smiths brand was not produced until after joining with Smiths Industries Ltd post 1945.

VINTAGE HARD WOOD GOLD INLAYED JEWELLERY BOX

Here is a vintage gold inlayed hard wood jewellery box with an intricate carved floral design to the top of it.

So there is a guide to the date of your watches, remember the lower the serial number generally the older it is and the more highly sought after too. Although such things as design, quality and condition maybe a factor.

BRENDA NAYLOR BISQUE FIGURINE TESTING POINTES 1981 7"

Here is a rare 1981 Brenda Naylor bisque figurine based on the Royal Ballet and entitled "Testing Pointes".

I have looked these figurines up and I believe that they are no longer made in white bisque.

She is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, damage or restoration.

She measures roughly 7" high.
This is a fantastic ceramic figurine and should fetch a high price! It would suit anyone from those with appreciation for fine ceramics or fans of Ballet.

This really is a lovely ceramic figure.

WADE COMICAL ELEPHANT IRISH PORCELAIN NEVER AGAIN! 1959

HUMMEL BOY CHIMNEY SWEEP 12 2/0 1960'S BEE MARK 4"

Here is a very nice Hummel figurine entitled Chimney Sweep.

This has the M.I. Hummel signature incised into the base and the Goebel Hummel Bee mark of 1960.

I would say that this is in good condition and that it has a little crazing to the underneath of the base and one small line of crazing in the base on the outside.

He stands four inches high and has no chips, cracks or restoration.

Hummel have been producing ceramic figurines since 1935, and, despite a brief hiatus in 2007, they have been produced ever since. The figurines wre based on illustrations by a German nun Maria Innocentia Hummel.

Here is a very pretty vintage silver Kurt Jobst ring set with a Chrysocolla.

The ring is marked on the inside band with .925, Jobst and what looks like a JK.

The makers mark is slightly indistinct so any help in identifying the actual mark of Kurt Jobst would be very much appreciated.

The makers mark can be clearly seen in the first photograph.

Would also appreciate help on pricing this item.

VINTAGE CHARLES HORNER STERLING SILVER CHILDS BRACELET

Here is a Sterling Silver childs/babies Bangle/bracelet by Charles Horner.

This is marked Sterling Silver and has the Charles Horner entwined CH.

This is in good condition with very little wear to the design.

Charles horner was a famous jeweller, founder of the renouned jewellery makers Charles Horner of Halifax, which produced mqainly jewellry but also some siver table ware and clocks.

His best known works are his thimbles known as Dorcas or Dorcasa, using previously unexplored methods of making more sturdy thimbles. He is also well known for his enamel works.

ANTIQUE SAMPLER SARAH GRAVATT MID 19TH CENTURY

Here is an Antique sampler of very high quality. Roughly mid 19th century (1850)

lovely fine Antique sampler made by Sarah Gravatt.
It reads "Sarah Gravatt is my name and with my needlework the same that all the wourld may plainly see the pains my parents too with me".
As can be seen this has a botanical theme to it, showing birds, butterflies, dogs, flowers, trees & fruit.
Has a very pretty border.
I purchased this with information regarding Sarah Gravatt, however I don't think the information is correct as it shows Sarah as a married woman with the last name Gravatt.
Samplers were historically done by children.
I have found a Sarah Gravatt who lived in Sussex in 1881, aged 9, however I am still not sure if this is the same one who did this sampler.
The sampler looks to me to be from a much earlier time.
Sarah is the first born and it was traditional to name your child after their grandparents so this could have been done by an earlier Sarah Gravatt.

Condition is very good, there is age toning and some disintegration of the fabric, see picture, this does not affect the majority of the needlework. I can't see any stitch loss.

A very nice example of an early sampler.
Measures roughly 12" by 14".

This item sold for £200

Samplers like this turn up very occasional so although not rare they are not common either, i believe that is reflected in its final selling price.

Caleb sasha doll

A vintage Caleb sasha doll.

As far as I can see he is in very good condition.

He has his original clothes although these look like they need some attention.

His socks are somewhat discoloured and the neck of his jumper needs restitching.

I think his elastic has gone in his trousers so this would need replacing.

Vest is ok but is discoloured and pants seem to be quite short for him.

His hair is comparitively complete and he seems to have some long strands amongst his shorter strands.

I cannot see any plugs missing.

There seems to be the odd single hair coming away here and there so I have not brushed his hair.

His legs are strung with brown elastic, while his arms are strung with white elastic

VINTAGE BLONDE SASHA DOLL CHECKED DRESS STRAW HAT

Here is a

good condition sasha doll

As far as I can see she is in very good condition.

She has her original clothes although these look like they need some attention.

Her Gingham shorts need some more elastic in as this has now given way.

Shoes are showing a few signs of ageing but this is not major, the poppers on the shoes are still in good clean shiny condition.

She comes with a straw hat but I am not sure if this is original, it fits her but could do with a ribbon or piece of elastic to hold it on her head.

She is in very good clean condition with one small light brown spot to her leg at the top.
She has no hair plugs missing as such but there is is evidence of one never having been there in the first place, there is a tiny blob of plastic in the hole where the hair should have been.
This does not really notice as it is towards the front where she seems to have ample fringe.

Her hair as can be seen is in lovely condition, still nice and soft, with no tangles.

Brown stringing to her legs and white stringing to her arms.

The Royal Doulton Company is one of the most well known pottery factories in England producing many highly sort after collectables since it first started producing china. The companies history dates back to around 1815 and has continued to thrive until going into administration on the 5 January 2009.

GOEBEL HAPPY MONK 4" LIDDED POT 1950 - 1955 BEE MARK

Nice Goebel Happy Monk in the form of a lidded pot, model number Z37.

This has the Goebel Bee mark for 1950-1955.

This is in good condition with two tiny flakes of paint missing to the underside of the lid which cannot be seen when the lid is on.

He also has a slight staining to his inside base.

He stands four inches high and has no cracks or restoration

Here is a........

Solid silver Waltham mass pocket watch dating to 1894/1896.

This has A. W. W. Co, Waltham Mass on the dial, the movement has Waltham Mass and the registration number of 6981429 and pat Pinion.

The case is hallmarked for the Birmingham Assay office and dates to 1891 with the makers mark of A.B

Does tick for a few seconds when the flywheel is pushed and feels like it is wound tightly.

Dial and glass are in good condition

Pure Nickel Medana half hunter pocket watch.

Here is a.....

Pure Nickel Medana half hunter pocket watch.

Medana was a brand for the company Meyer and studeli which was founded in 1888, in Switzerland. The companies founder Fritz meyer stared with a very small work force in his home town of Solothium, making cylinders before switching to watches in 1904.

I am unsure of the date of this watch but it must be between 1904 and the mid 70's as Medana went bust at some point during then.

This watch feels like it is fully wound and will tick after you give it a kick start with the flywheel.

It will only tick though for about 30 seconds if you are lucky so I should imagine that this needs a good clean.

All hands are present with a sweeping second hand.

There is a hairline crack to the watch face that is not too noticeable and cannot been seen when the case is closed.

VINTAGE FRENCH PORCELAIN HANDPAINTED DUMAS MANTLE CLOCK 1889

Fantastic, Hand Painted, Antique French Mantle clock signed Dumas, L Martie Et Cie, Medaille Dargent 1889

Here is the chance to own a hand Painted Antique French Mantle clock.

This is signed Dumas and is decorated with gilt feet and shoulders.

The movement is marked L Martie Et Cie, Medaille Dargent 1889.

The dial is decorated with a festoon of flowers, with very ornate hands.

The clock chimes and has its pendulum and its key.

The pendulum will swing for a few seconds but then stops, so this will need looking at.

The only damage if any that I can see is crazing to the glaze, and a tiny chip underneath to the base, also there are hairline cracks to the dial (shown on photograph).

There is a tiny amount of rubbing to the gilding, and where the clock has been moved there is slight wear to one side of the blue finish.

It is possible that something adorned the top as there is a small hole and the evidence of something resting lightly on either side (slight rubbing to the colour).

This comes with its original blue velvet and gilt wooden base.

It has a typically blue colouring for the time period to the sides and back that is finished off with beautifully hand painted gold stems of flowers, it is also signed on the back in gold Made In France.

Front glass is in nice condition and stays tightly shut.

Here is a very pretty Victorian Micro Mosaic Brooch.

This has Roma on the front and is Gondala shaped, there is one tiny piece of mosaic missing at each end and this is possibly deliberate as it would be difficult to fit a piece in, and is not really noticable
Pin and hook are in good working order.

GARNIER PARIS BRASS CHAMPLEVE 8 DAY CARRIAGE CLOCK

Here is a

Garnier (Paul) Paris, brass carriage clock with Champleve decoration.

This is in working order with all glass panels intact (the front panel of glass has a small chip to the top left hand corner.

The clock face also has some damage to the top left hand corner with hairline cracks, the largest travels from the top left down past the number 9.

I am not sure why it has this damage as the brass on that corner shows no sign of damage, so it has not been dropped. The damage can be seen on the last photograph.

The hairline cracks are very light and are difficult to see, can only be seen at an angle.

The enamelled Champleve is in good condition.

The patina of the brass? on the body of the clock could do with a clean but as I am not an expert I have left it well alone in case I damage it.

It seems to keep very good time but could probably do with very slight adjustment.

VINTAGE MENS SILVER WRIST WATCH BIRMINGHAM 1937 BENSON

a Gents silver hallmarked wristwatch with leather strap.

The watch has the Birmingham assay office with a date letter of N indicating this was made in 1937.

The watchmaker it seems was J W Benson from London.

The winder is not working properly when turned the hands spin around.

The flywheel moves several swings and then stops.

The second hand is loose inside so would need reattaching.

The watch strap is in good condition although rather crudely made, and the watch case could do with a good clean.

The watch is sold as not working

A E WAITE KEY TO THE TAROT FIRST Edition 1910

1910 first edition of A E Waite's seminal THE KEY TO THE TAROT, published by William Rider & Son Limited.

This is a very rare item indeed and very very few first eds, appear on the open market.

It is an unassuming little book 83mm x 125mm, bound in blue with gilt blocking and gilt top edge. Very slight browning to the edges of the pages. Otherwise in excellent condition.

The cover is in excellent condition having been covered by its original tissue paper and if it were not for the slight browning of the pages this would look as new instead of a 1910 book.

The book comes with a boxed deck of tarot cards, obviously of the same date. The cards conform with Pamela Coleman Smith's requirements as described in K Frank Jensen's article "The early Waite-Smith tarot editions".

The cards are in excellent condition, with no signs of rough handling.

Comes in its original box for book and deck.

In 1909, Waite commissioned Smith to produce a tarot deck with appeal to the world of art, and the result was the unique Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck (Rider being the name of the publisher), which has endured as the world's most popular 78-card tarot deck. The innovative cards depict full scenes with figures and symbols on all of the cards including the pips, and with Smith's distinctive designs they have become the basis for the designs of many subsequent packs.

The Rider-Waite tarot deck is the most popular Tarot deck in use today in the English-speaking world (the Tarot de Marseille being the most popular deck in the Latin countries). Over the years it has also been known as the Rider-Waite-Smith, Waite-Smith, Waite-Colman Smith or simply the Rider deck.

The images were drawn by artist Pamela Colman Smith, to the instructions of academic and mystic A. E. Waite and published by the Rider Company. While the images are deceptively simple, almost child-like, the details and backgrounds hold a wealth of symbolism. The subjects remain close to the earliest decks, but usually have added details. Significantly, Waite had the Christian imagery of older tarot decks' cards toned down—the "Pope" card became the "Hierophant," the "Popess" became the "High Priestess." The minor arcana are also, like the earlier Sola Busca Tarot, fully illustrated with designs created by Pamela Colman Smith. ERNST HEUBACH BISQUE & LEATHER DOLL 1900 + SET CLOTHES

Here is a.....

Ernst Heubach doll with horseshoe on her neck and a number 1900.

She has been nicely made and is unusual as she has shoulders,

She is open mouthed showing a row of nice white teeth.

Eyes are working well.

I am not sure but I think she has real human hair, but this is quite scruffy and will possibly need to be replacing.

She has had a break to the front of her shoulder and has been repaired, this could possibly be cleaned and made to look much better than it is at the moment.

She is separate from kid leather body, there is a rip at the back where leather meets the material so that the sawdust will come out quite easily.

She has one china half arm whilst the other one is missing.

Her clothes are checked long johnswith knee length green stockings/socks, hole in one.

A vintage coat with mother of pearl buttons, this has signs of wear to the underarms and is badly in need of a wash or clean.

A crocheted skirt or petticoat with a cotton button, again needs a good clean.

A Petticoat with hand done lace to the bottom.

A very nice red dress to go with her red knitted hat.

The dress has mother of pearl buttons that graduate down to tiny mother of pearl buttons.

Has tiny buttons as decoration on the front and on the sleeve.

Has some wear and again could do with a clean.

All in all I think this could be a very nice made up doll.

Boxed pelham puppet No clothes?

Here is....

vintage boxed Pelham puppet.

I have tried looking him up on the Pelham Puppet website but cannot find him.

He has red wooden shoes and closed wooden hands or composite hands and metal knee joints.

His joints are metal and he has a white nose with a big beaming smile and very big blue eyes.

No hair or clothes I am afraid and no strings or control.

He came in a box but I don't think its the box he should be in.

It is a box for a cowgirl and as he came in this the box will be included.

The box is dated from 1956 - 1962 and is in fair condition, a child has written their name on the lid and the corners are worn, with the edges of the lid slightly worn as well.

Pelham puppets are a type of factory-made puppet created by Bob Pelham known for making mainly string puppets (Marionettes) in post war Britain from 1947 - 1996.
